Hey Everyone, I am 23 days out from my surgery and I have heard different things about Low-Fat...So with having the DS is it okay to eat Full Fat foods or do you have to do the low fat diet?

Full fat... I never have limited my fat in the 9+ years. If they are giving you low fat, it's probably RNY directions.

Full fat. However, if you are having issues with loose stool you may want to go low fat for a short period of time to see if that helps.

One cautionary comment about going low fat - if you choose to eat anything low fat, be sure to check carb content. Usually any pre-made low fat foods are higher in sugar - they substitute sugar for fat.

I'm with everyone else. I stopped eating low fat right away after my DS. You will see different things about how much fat you need but I just stopped low fat foods I never tracked fat to meet some goal.

I saw someone say we don't abosrb fat but really we absorb less fat not no fat at all.

By all means, enjoy as much fat as you like, for we malabsorb an average of 80% of what we consume. A nutritionist tried that crap on me and I was constipated in less than a week. You need that fat for digestion, hair, skin, and brain function, so enjoy some butter with your bacon and start enjoying life.
