i have been on certain medication for the past 10'years for bipolar disorder. I am now worried about the malabsorption of my medication. Does my dr just triple the dosage ?

I don't think jumping straight to tripling a medication is the best plan. Some meds work the same and others don't work worth a darn. You will likely have to experiment, but starting with current dosage seems prudent

IT depends on the medication and how it is absorbed. I too have bi-polar and worked very closely with my Dr to find the right dose. It just took a lot of diligence on my part. Id recommend working closely with your Dr and monitoring your symptoms to help monitor your potential dosage changes. I take abnormal dose of my medication without problems.

My dosage did not change. My psychiatrist was ready to titrate to therapeutic levels but the DS did not change the absorption of it. I did however, go from extended release to immediate release and I take it twice a day now.
