DS Patients malabsorb calcium, iron, copper, some B vits., A, D, E, K1, K2, K3
A D E K1, K2, K3 MUST BE IN DRY FORM - Corrie cannot absorb fats/lipids
You can also get Whey Protein Isolate in five pound boxes on eBay, and in ten pound bags on Lucky Vitamin. I'm one of those who will have to supplement protein for life, I could get a revision, but insurance is one per lifetime, and I would rather do the work than have another abdominal surgery
Walmart - for the Equate Complete Multivitamin - Equivalent to Centrum Complete. If you have a Sam's Club membership, Kirkland is the same thing, only in bulk, or you can get whatever other brand they have that you prefer. Any Multivitamin that compares to Centrum Complete is good. Your the other single letter vitamins you want to keep that way, so that you can adjust easily according to individual lab results. LEARN YOUR NORMAL LEVELS FOR THE DS, AND LEARN TO READ YOUR OWN LABS. The vets on OH can teach you! We call the dietitians/nutritionists NUTS for a reason; when it comes to the DS, they are CERTIFIABLE! ;-)
JazzyOne Addendum:
I cut the multivites, so the stomach can get to the busienss part quicker. Just my personal thing that I do.
DO NOT GET OIL FILLED ADEK'S WE CANNOT ABSORB THEM.
Dry ADEK capsules ( I like Bio-Tech, which are exactly the same as Vitalady capsules) for the same reason. gets to the business part faster.
I supported Vitalady when it was really Vitalady and I was a newbie, but as i learned along with my academic studies ($$$), I had to find less expensive alternatives.
