Hello having a revision and getting the DS

I've had my lapband for two years this month and only lost 8 pounds.  I'm scheduled for revision surgery to the DS on Dec. 21st.  To say I was disappointed in myself and my band is an understatement.  I felt only minimal restriction, even though I had multiple fills.  Hoping for the best with the DS.

Hope all went well with your surgery.  I had my revision the day before you.  How are you doing?

Take advantage of your weight loss window. Avoid carbs until you get to goal.

I had GVS in 2011 and had a revision to DS in June. I wasn't sure if I wanted a revision but with the help of my Dr and this group I was more comfortable about doing the revision. I lost 40 lbs in 4 months. I want to lose a total of 100 or max 110 lbs and be where I was weight wise 15 years ago. Watch what you eat. Low carbs to no carbs and lots of proteins. I have a minimum of 45 grams of pure protein everyday. With this surgery your body doesn't keep everything you eat so 20% or more of your nutrients become waste. Don't use this as an excuse to eat more food but have more healthy protein choices. Yes lots of vitimans but I love my revision. I hope to reach my weight loss goal by my 1 year mark. Good luck.

Your 45 grams of protein needs to be 90 by month 3 or more.  That 45 is more like 22.5 with our DS.

Your right. I started to increase my protien intake back to 90gm yesterday. My weight loss has been stalled lately and I'm sure this is one of the reasons why.

I saw someone said we do high fats. I don't do high fats. My Dr recommends against high fats. Am I the only one who thinks that way? I eat high protien, low fat, almost no carbs to no carbs daily, with fruits and veggies.

I'm afraid if I go high fats that I will spend too much time in the bathroom. I ate one sausage at work (fat link breakfast sausage) I spent 3 hours in the bathroom at work. I can never do that again.

You can be eating more protein.  You do know that fruits and veggies are carbs, right.  You may want to start adding in a little more fat every few days.  I have no problem adding in lots of mayo for my tuna or egg salad.  Adding butter, eating bacon.  Try for more protein.  When your body isn't getting enough calories, it wants to hang on to all those calories.  You need to let your body know that food is plentiful.  That's why we say lots of protein and fat.    Nuts, cheese, jerky, fish, meat...  The list is pretty long.  My lunch box has cheese slices in quarters and salami.  Ate the rest of my chicken breast from last night.  Also have jerky, stick cheese, salmon and a little scalloped potatoes from Halloween, and the rest of my cheddar dog.

I'm 8.5 yrs out.  Still get oil slicks so I know that the fat is going right on through.
