Cash payment in Mexico

Has anyone had to take cash into Mexico to pay for your surgery?  I get a discount if I pay in cash.  I'm concerned about the safety

of taking that much cash through customs and security.

Revision to DS: 8/31/2016 with Dr. Alejandro Lopez in Tijuana

That was my first consideration.  I am using Dr. Alejandro Lopez at ALO Bariatrics.  They said, "Cash is cash."

huh. I took 9,000.00 when I went for plastics. Any amount less that 10,000 doesn't have to be declared. I put the cash, in 100.00 bills in he bank envelope and tape it shut. Then. Put the envelope in the bottom of my backpack, in an area where I wouldn't be getting in and out of and never touched it again until I handed it to he surgeon. It went through customs and security just fine with no questions asked.

Thanks.  I think that's what I will do.

I brought a cashiers check for the balance owed and paid the same price as paying with cash.   I didn't feel comfortable bringing  $12,000 in cash.   (mine was a revision)

I had Dr.  Esquerra  with Mexicali Bariatrics.   I was so impressed with the car I received.

Good luck!!

Revision band to DS. I had plastics to take care of my jiggily bits. I'm feeling so good!! My results have been even better than I ever dreamed.

If your Dr won't take cashiers check, get a new doctor. You're already vulnerable as is, and don't need a neon sign saying "rob me" in your pocket.

I've had surgery outside the country and any self respecting dr should take a bank check drawn on a major US bank.

You call also wire transfer the money to the dr ahead of time. At least then, if anything goes wrong you'll know robbed you.

If the dr is reputable with numerous trusted reviews, this would be a lot safer than carrying a lot of cash into a poor country.
