weight loss/ depression
I grew up in Buffalo, NY and would have a terrible time with depression during the winter months. When I moved to California it basically disappeared. Do some research on SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). There are some lights that can mimic the sun that you can sit next to if you have low sunlight in the winter months where you live.
Actually mine got worse. I know it was a nutritional issue, plus the fast weight loss and the extreme changes that took place at the time. But it was a miserable first year.
Once I got the vits down, and was able to exercise every day, then it started to lift.
I learned that nutrition plays a part in every aspect of our life. I agree that you will become quite knowledgeable about nutrition, supplements, herbs and other health related matters. You will be much better off if you do. I haven't found a doctor yet worth more than 2 cents when it comes to this surgery and the impact it can have on our health. I've had to take matters into my own hands and look out for myself.
I also saw a hormone specialist who prescribes bioidentical hormones. It helped a lot as I went thru peri-menopause at the same time as my WLS. I think it helped tremendously to avoid the ups and downs of estrogen surges that happen during extreme weight loss. Hormones really play a huge part in our overall health and well being.
