I am not having a revision to a DS till next week... but I can address your comment "1 shot".   In 2009 I self payed for a lapband in Mexico..  $4k plus airfare...   then paid for fills in US at couple hundred a pop...    I lost absolutely all the weight   From 240 to 98lbs.   I then self payed tummy tuck, thigh lift, and boob job.    But I absolutely hated puking...   So I revised to a VSG in 2011...another 4K plus airfare.    I was told I wouldn't gain back the weight..   3 years in I have gained back  45lbs.   Next week I will kick out another 6K for the revision to add the DS (obviously I already have part 1 the VSG).   Hind sight is 20/20...  if I had to do it all over again  I would have had the bypass of DS the first time..  By BMI was 52, I was certainly qualified.   Also add to the costs the thousand I have paid in Dental bills for all the tooth erosion from all the puking...

I encourage you not to be scared of the surgery...  I have done 6 surgeries all in mexico and absolutely not 1 single negative effect, not 1 infection, not one fever, not one anything...and I have taken multiple friends with me.   I have been so healthy since my first surgery.. It fact I truly have only seen my primary care doctor once in all these years, and only because I was made to by the insurance company.  .  If you are just fat but healthy and NOT anemic...  all should be fine...  The only reqret I have was being cheap and scared the first time and not going all in...  YOu can call and talk anytime...

I also want to remark,  that when I did my revision in 2011 to a VSG,  I was 98lbs...   I took a friend with me...  she was heavy..   She lost all her weight down to 105lb...   However I spoke with her the other night...   She is beginning to gain as well.  and her statement was no matter what I do I cant get it off.    Just Food for Thought.    The other food for thought I will share is during this time I have been considering the 3rd surgery.... One surgeon did comment that it does seem to last 3 - 4 years before weight gain.  Some may never gain back...   But........

Good Luck and Take Care,

Janet

I am so excited that there is more dialog going on regarding this procedure and doubly pleased that many of you are also Dr. Enochs' patients too!  I had SIPS on 10/10/2014.   They discharged me less than 48 hrs after surgery and I just returned to work today.   I am still uncertain if I made the right decision but in the long run I believe I will find that I did.  The 2 week post op liquid diet is making me crazy.  I'm not sure if it's real hunger or head hunger I experience.  My diabetes was not immediately resolved. I still take insulin as needed.  My blood sugar has come down over 100 points, so my insulin doses are much less.  I think my blood sugar will stabilize in the normal range as the weight comes off.  My blood pressure also has not gotten better. It's about as high as it was before surgery with medication.  I am however losing about 1 lb. per day so that's promising, although I wonder if it's because I'm only consuming liquids or if it's the surgery itself.  Only time will tell.

We do seem to be a small group, with the majority being from BSNC!

Keep us posted on your progress. I know two other members are going Oct 27th (one with Enochs).

Mine just got moved to Nov 10th, so it added 2 weeks to my liver reduction diet. I was hoping to feel better able to handle the liquid only after surgery, but it sounds like you are dealing with some strong cravings!

I was so happy to find this thread! I am considering SADI with Dr. Enochs, but have been having a hard time finding other people who have had this procedure. From reading this thread, it sounds like most of you have had success with this procedure, which is great! Looks like this was posted back in October, so I'm wondering how yall are doing now? Any complications or bad side effects? Any regrets? Also, I saw mention of a support group at BSNC. Is this the group that meets at Rex or is there another group? Thanks!!
