low hemoglobin, hematocrit, iron and ferritin
I read about it in other DSrs and RNYrs all the time. If you are terribly low, it would be better to see a hematologist at this point for infusions. Once you're low it's near impossible for supplements to bring your levels up. We absolutely have trouble absorbing, so supplements are critically important.
My levels were low normal and I brought them up on 300mg of Vitalady's Tender Iron, which is carbonyl form of iron. I also took a tablet of Proferrin ES separately which is heme iron. That combo in that quantity works for me but I was never low on my labs and started early with the 300 mg of iron supplementation.

I've had some low numbers for the past 6 months. I've been trying to bring them up with some additional carbony and Proferrin (heme iron).
Mine hasn't been low enough to think about infusions so I just push on through. Since it isn't very low I'm note extremely tired but pretty
wiped by the end of the day.

yes my entire iron panel was critically low, before I had the DS, but I had the lap band for 8 years and that is what did it. I went on a prescription iron, which s very very well absorbed, proferrin forte, I took 3 tablets a day for about 3-4 months to bring it up and now I maintain at 1 tablet a day, my hem/onc wanted to give me iron infusions, but I chose not to take it and went with this RX instead....
We don't have normal absorption of iron, so yes, this can happen to us ( and also to those with gastric bypass). It's harder to catch up once you are deficient than it is to maintain, so see if your surgeon or pcp will order iron transfusions for you to get you caught up, and then take enough supplements to stay at a good level. And this would definitely cause you to feel tired and/or weak.
