Where is your extra Stomach?
Yes he does and I am one of the oddities! I have a lap band in addition to the Duodenal Switch. I had my intestines flip 3 1/2 years after I had the DS and when I had to have emergency surgery he asked me if I wanted the band put on. I started at 401 but stalled at 250. The lap band helped me take off the last 100 pounds. The more that I think this through when I had the lab band put on he would have had to have removed the other portion of the stomach. I am still going to get my op reports to check it out. My friend is going to send me her reports, if she allows me to share I will, we are both so curious what in the heck happened.
This is the first time I have read about a DS surgeon leaving in the part of the stomach that was sectioned out. Mine was removed during my DS surgery 6 years ago.

DS (lap) with Dr. Clifford Deveney. Cholecystectomy (lap) with Dr. Clifford Deveney 19 months post-op.
Has not weighed myself since 1/2010. Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.
This is not an OH comment but an organ transplant. I had a pancreas/kidney transplant and what the surgeon does is leave the native kidneys inside as they don't get any blood supply so shrink to little grapes or smaller. The new kidney (only one) is in front of my body vs in the native kidneys' are normally in the back area of the body.
I had the VSG so I know the stapled off portion of the stomach is removed...
I know that didn't answer your question of pts from 10 yrs ago having gastric surgery. I don't know but a good question never the less.
