Just curious as to what everyone uses for

gas.  As we all know avoiding slot of carbs controls the gas, but sometimes we over due it.   I feel as though simethicone doesn't work well

I have WICKED gas... I alway say I'm worse than a burly truck driver.  GAS X works pretty well.  Also, just letting it go in the bathroom and spraying like crazy works

I don't use anything for gas.  If it happens, it happens and it's probably something I ate, which is not necessarily carbs.  Once you're well aware of what causes, eating strategically can really get you in control of gas.  I have very little as a rule anymore, but when I do, I can usually pinpoint the cause.  That being said, I still learn more even as far out as these days about how my body reacts to things.

  • Lactose intolerance - can be some dairy, but not all, and may even include whey protein
  • Artificial sweeteners - especially sweeteners that end in "tol" (i.e. sorbitol, malitol)
  • Bacteria imbalance - can be corrected and prevented by use of probiotics and in worse cases, wiping out entire colony with antibiotic and starting over.
  • Certain foods, sauces, spices - put me down for onions, leeks, and terriyaki as the worst ever for reactions.  Oh...and Caesar salad-in-a-bag.

I take digestive health probiotics for gas and bloating four times a day and four imodium with simethicone four times a day. I poot maybe four to five times a day. The smell is still stinky but it is no where near what it use to be. Carbs do not make me gassy. Sugars make me bloat up and fart like a motor bike.

I recently got a prescription for VSL#3-DS probiotic. I take 1/2 tsp in my morning yogurt and a 1/2 tsp in my lunchtime shake or in a salad later in the afternoon.  It does come in an OTC strength but I like the powder rather than the capsule and I have been able to find my sweet spot with the powder. My insurance doesn't cover it but my FSA does.
