Have you found results to be significant enough to justify extra cost? I have been on ferrous glutamate (spelling) with just barely staying in the bottom of normal for iron.  But it is $7 for 90 tabs as opposed to $60is it worth the extra cost.  I do have tolerable discomfort from them.  It would be nice to eliminate that but not at 10x the cost especially if the absorption is not significant.

I found that I needed the combo of carbonyl iron (Vitalady's Tender Iron) and heme iron (Proferrin) to get my labs to come up from meh ok, to wonderful! When I was bringing my iron markers up I was taking 300mg of Tender iron in the late afternoon and 2 Proferrin tablets at bedtime. It took almost a year but now my labs seem to be hanging in there on half the dose I used to bring them up.

I cannot take any other iron. It slows down my system - it's not constipation in the traditional sense (compact, hard stools in the lower intestine) but reduced motility/bloating in the upper intestine. I'm miserable. I have NO side effects with this iron. It's the only one that brought my numbers up to barely acceptable. I am still planning on pushing for iron infusions in the future, thought, because barely acceptable is not acceptable with me. And that's with taking three proferrin a day!
