Nausea/eating issues 3 months out
I had my duodenal switch revision from a lap band on Jan 8, 2014. I have lost 75 lbs in that time which I am happy about but I am dealing with a lot of nausea and difficulty eating anywhere near a cup of food at meal times. My stomach seems to always be in a state of turmoil and I feel like I could throw up. My doctor says it is because of the revision that it may take along time. I am becoming very tired of feeling like this and just want to know if anyone else has had this same trouble.

If you are not taking a PPI then you may want to start taking one. The nausea often is caused by the acid in your stomach.
Also not enough fluids during the day can cause nausea.
Over filling or letting your stomach get "to empty" can cause nausea in some people.
If you need to just eat small amounts all through out the day, instead of 3-4 meals. Some people need to "snack" all day and evening to get it right.
Make sure you always get in enough fluids, very important.

Prilosec is a ppi. PPI is short for Proton Pump Inhibitor. Not quite sure how they work but sometimes helps nausea if it is caused be excess acid ( I think ).
Did your Doc prescribe anything for the nausea? I was on pepcid for the first 6 months but I didn't have anything like the trouble you are describing.
Could you give us an idea of what you are eating and how much in weight as opposed to amount. For example at 3 months I was very comfortable with
3 oz of protein per meal.
I hope this passes soon - hard enough to get used to the DS without adding in that much nausea.

U aren't kidding. It is so hard feeling with this. I'm not able to even think about doing 3 oz of protein. Barely a bite when I try swallowing it it s like yuk. Funny thing is is I feel the best laying down. Mornings are my best where ci can do a hard boiled egg or a egg burrito. Than it goes downhill from there. Yes I have 2 different anti nausea pills I go too. So frustrated.
And if Prilosec (generic) doesn't work, try a different one such as the Prevacid generic or Protonix generic.
Prilosec does NOTHING, NADA, ZIP for me but the others work well.

I am 6 weeks out and right there with ya. I feel sick ALL the time. I'm on the acid blockers but it doesn't seem to make a difference for me. My MD prescribed phenergan but it causes sleepiness so that doesn't work during the day. I feel sick when I eat, don't eat, drink water, etc. Is it supposed to feel bad all the time??
