Have you considered ditching having periods? I don't have any thanks to the Mirena coil.

Another vote for no periods! I love my Mirena!

LOL, AMY! I am not sexually active and do not have any insurance so I cannot afford Birth Control. I would love to ditch the damn periods though. LOL

Good post.  I suffer as you do but found a product that is OTC and can be ordered at CVS...Recti-care....I've seen it on tv commercials lately.  $30.00 use sparingly.  Has 2% Lidocaine but I like your idea of the sunburn cream....I will buy some to keep in the house as a backup.

thank you, alese

It sounds like you have really struggled with this, as have I, and am, unfortunately. Proctofom does nothing for me either, but Im glad to hear that it has helped others. I will have to try some of the sunburn cream you suggested. What I have been using is a bag of frozen peas secured in a ziplock bag. I have two bags like this that I rotate between them thawing out. It does bring immediate relief, but obviously while this method brings quick relief, it wouldn't be good for someone that has a lot going on, "like a job"..... I myself am a housewife so this is the way I choose to take care of it. Also, "Aleve" can help at times with pain and swelling. P.S. Yes, this can tend to freeze you up down there, but it beats being in pain.

Wow, I feel for you. I'm an occasional sufferer and hope it never gets worse (again).

when I was pregnant with the twins I had the worst experience with them, I was terrified of showering or even moving around because of (too much information) my giant growths.  I wish I knew what it was but my doctor at the time said it was a very strong drug for strengthening vein walls and that I could not take it for over 5 days.  It worked and they went way down which I could bear until the end...

I would blame the hormonal changes from your period more than anything bm related, but I agree about diarrhea being extremely unhelpful for prevention.

would your doctor let you take steroids, since it has helped before?  Just remember, whatever you put down there gets absorbed much faster/better, so be careful.  I'm going to keep the idea in mind next time I'm suffering.  Thanks ;)

Yeah, I am using the Recticare 5% lidocaine inside and the burn cream on the outside. It is right on the outside that I am having issues the most. The burn cream seems to help better than the Recticare. I am being careful. I think I discovered what is giving me acidic Diarrhea. I have had it for two weeks. Two weeks ago I started sucking on Icebreaker mints because they are sugar free and carb free. The Sugar alcohol content was
