is this common with the sleeve as well as the DS?  Not only am I becoming nauseous to the point of vomiting but nothing even taste normal.. Yogurt which I do like gagged me, the protein shakes will not stay down.

I even managed to vomit the fuzzy navel which was the only one that I semi liked the flavor of pre-op.  My urine has become darker so I'm working hard to up my fluids but it's hard when the  protein causes you to vomit.  Really struggling a little here any suggestions

Don't worry about the protein so much. Drink your water with lime and call out for some egg drop soup. Your sleeve is still very swollen but it should get better soon. Hang in there.

SIp sip sip. Gina's right - keep after the liquids. Hydration is your number one priority at this point.

I feel your pain about the lactose intolerance. I have found the reason why my protein shakes weren't staying down, check your labels and see if they are a milk based protein drink. I have found that unflavored soy based... really aren't too horrible and it helps get the protein in. They also have lactose free items with high protein like cottage cheese. Your yogurt could also be too thick. with my greek yogurt I had to blend it with some unsweetened silk. It's harder to find things to take this close to being out from surgery, but it is doable. Keep on sippin and soon it will become second nature.

Pretty normal, and it may reverse itself in time. Tiny stomach means less lactase production, and without lactase you can't break down lactose (milk sugar.) Fortunately, many people who can't tolerate milk CAN tolerate cheese, since most of the lactose gets burned up in the process of turning milk into cheese.

Lactase is found in the small intestine (which we don't have much of).

Whey proetin is a milk by-product, so you may be affected by that, too.  You may want to try an egg-white protein, which I find doesn't have the horrible aftertastes.  The darker urine is probably dehydration, and once you remove the dairy, hopefully will be easier to consume.  Try liquids in different flavors as well as temperatures.  Warm may go down easier.

Are you taking an acid reducer like Prilosec?  Your surgery date doesn't show, so I don't know how far out you are.  But post-op, most of us leave the hospital with a prescription for a PPI like Prilosec for at least 8 weeks.  But if you aren't taking it correctly, it won't work.  Read the insert:  It tells you to take it with just a sip of water first thing in the AM, then to wait 20 minutes until eating/drinking anything else.

Whey ISOLATE is what you want to limit yourself to if you're Lactose Intolerant.  If you're also sensitive to that, you're going to need some specialized nutritional advice from your surgeon's office NUT.

And if you're dehydrated, GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM for IV fluids.  Pronto.

Thanks Sheanie.... I was finally put on Lansoprazole on day 6.. If not mistaken I believe that is Prilosec .. it took a couple days but made a world of difference.  I'm not pushing the milk intolerance right now, I drink primarily Fuzzy Naval and every now and then it hits me wrong but no problems for the most part. Now it's a matter of just getting enough... I don't think I'm dehydrated and my urine color is looking pretty pale except first in the morning...  Thanks for you input
