8 days post op now- having pain after drain removal

Hello everyone! I have been recovering very well. I went to doc yesterday and had drain removed. Little bit of pain at time of removal ,then I came home and started getting more and more sore in drain area. Feels like pulled/strained muscles. Just wondering from Vets how u felt after recovery.It got so bad last night I got a little worried.Thinking this maybe normal that you go one step forward 3 back with recovery. Just curious-Mike

Most people feel less sore in the area of the drain after it is removed. Sounds like you need to call your surgeon.

Larra is right!  Drain removal is usually instant relief!

My experience was different. It felt like I had a pulled muscle for 4 or 5 days after they pulled the tube. It may have had something to do with the amount of tubing they had to pull out. The Doctor taking it out, not my surgeon, seemed a little put off that there was so much tubing inside me.

Thanks everyone!!! I called dr. office and they saw my drain sight yesterday when they removed tube. It was a little red but not much.Anyway its still draining like crazy, Ive changed dressing 4 times today, so hopefully next few days it will clear up or I will go back to dr. Hey Pete, did yours leak alot after tube was removed?-

Mine leaked a lot before they took the tube out. It still leaked for a couple of days after it was just easier to bandage since I didn't have to bandage around the tube.

Hmm makes me wonder if it is something different with men and women.  Both women said it should feel better and you and Pete said it felt like a pulled muscle.

I had drain out after 3 months and for 9 days it leaked and felt like a warm coming up, yes feels weird after drain removal. Give it time. 

I too had/having those pains. What did you do? Was it normal?
