I'm not sure 35 pills a day is the typical but I would be willing to take them if I was gaining the quality of life I lost during my regain after RNY. I had RNY in 2000 lost 223 pds and worked extremely hard to keep it off. But it came back slowly anyway. I upped the exercise and still gained but I also gave up after putting on 50 pds exercising 3 hours daily. I also got hurt many times walking 8 miles a day and if DS was an option then at the 60 BMI I was I should have gotten that. Now I am at 50 BMI and honestly I cant wait to feel lighter, move more, stop hurting myself exercising at this weight. Good luck finding your path

I made an appointment at U of Chicago April 9th for my initial consult !! Just a little, but exciting, step. I'm sick of being in pain, and the injuries that come with being too large. I want to be able to play with my future grandchildren. Thanks for all the responses, keep em coming - positive thoughts are great !!

Hi Russ!

I'm 8.5 yrs post op, and travel is quite common for the DSers.  A good surgeon will partner up with your PCP to make sure you're getting the right labs, etc, to stay healthy, and the PCP can take it from there.  Expect to spend a couple weeks in Chicago after surgery.  Most complications will materialize within a couple of weeks, and the surgeons prefer you to stay close during that time.

Oh really. I didn't realize I'd have to stick around so long. Figured a couple days after I get out of hospital I could head home, not that I'm probably going to feel like a 3.5 hr drive. Either way whatever the doc says is fine. Chicago is OK and my kids can drive down and visit or we'll Skype :) Thanks Valerie
