DS or RNY
If your HMO will cover the DS or you are paying go for it!
However know that with the malabsorption goes the obligation and regimen of taking your vitamins regularly (as do RnY but not as seriously and nowadays, at least in Israel, people are realizing that even Sleeves have to be on top of their blood tests and act accordingly!)
As you had a Band and not a Ring, you have the option I did not have in researching in Israel in 2007 (after years of vomiting and GERD) to have and fight for the DS.
Go in knowing the facts (you do now) and best of luck on your new and better journey to health.
Mikimi in Israel
I agree with everything everyone has posted here, but I do wan to add my 2 cents worth. I originally wanted the sleeve because the thought of having my intestines rerouted scared the hell out of me. As I researched the different procedures (I spent 2 years researching) I decided to get the RNY, then researching more I decided on the DS, and stayed with the DS. I was constantly discussing my decision with my husband and one of the things he said to me really made sense and ultimately made me decide on the DS. What he said was "If you are going to have WLS, why wouldn't you get the best bang for your buck and get the one that would benefit you the most and give you the best chance to keep the weight off." Think about it...for me that made perfect sense. I will be 12 weeks out tomorrow and I'm down 64 pounds. I absolutely love my DS and I'm soooo glad it's the procedure I decided to go with. My only regret is not getting it sooner.
