wanted DS... started with vsg
I wanted Ds since the beginning and due to time and distance it wasn't possible. I'm financially able to have the ds now and wonder if they will finish the surgery with such a low bmi... with the vsg I stopped loosing weight at 4 months out... since I have lost a grand total of 5 lbs bringing me up to a 174 My BMI is about a 33. However I still have several comorboties. I still have high blood pressure requiring meds, sleep apnea that seems to be as bad as ever, and my asthma is still terrible. I MAY be prediabetic. All of these things could be improved with the continuation of the surgery I originally wanted. When I was preop I had only weighed 177... my nut instructed me to GAIN weight to insure I would be approved for surgery. I did so reaching 232. So in actuality all of this has only brought me a 3 lbs weight loss and several stalls. I can't take it. I'm so depressed and wonder why I put myself through all of this physical and emotional stress and pain for a lousy three pounds. It's not fair. I stick to plan and nothing. I have bounced my calories from 400-600-1200 and back down... none of it matters. I've moved my protein from 60 all the way up to more than double that... that too does not matter. So my question is, with the comorboties will they do the surgery? My ideal weight is 110 I'm still 64 lbs over weight. that's more than I have lost in ten months. I do NOT know what to do. I want the continuation of the surgery I originally wanted. I just don't know how to go about it. With out being cruel does anyone have any idea if this is possible? I want to get to goal so that I can be healthy and I have not lost anything since august... like i said not since four months out. I'm just so frustrated and lost. I feel completely alone. All I read about is success stories. I am far from being a success. I need to figure it out. I'm looking for guidance, have any of you waited this long to get the second step of the surgery? If so what was your bmi at the time of your second part? I'm calling surgeons tomorrow.
All you can do is ask and spell out your situation. Since the VSG just wasn't enough and you still have unresolved comorbidities, it might work. Good luck and keep us posted.
