Feel like I'm losing slowly. What tweaks should I make?

I think I need to look at my calories. That is something I haven't been monitoring and I wonder if I need to up them.

I figured out the problem. Holy cow!! It's th calories. I'm getting in less than 1000 calls a day. I thinks that's it!!! Thank you for helping me brainstorm. I wa****ting my protein but eating very little calls. Do you have any idea how many calls I should be getting in? I'm 5'3.

I reviewed my cals and although I was getting in enough protein and my carbs were low MY CALORIES WERE ALSO VERY LOW! I think that's part of the problem. I'm going to up the calories.

1) STAY off the scale

2) See number 1

3) IF you must weigh, do so only once a month

4) If you can't stay off the scale, give it away, throw it away, lock it away and give away the key...but see #1!!!

Now, to put this all in perspective:

It's not POUNDS, it's PERCENTAGES!

by Carolyn M.

Two people, both 6 months post-op. One has lost only 63 pounds and feels bad about her "slow" weight loss. The other has lost 96 pounds and thinks she's doing great.

They are both wrong.

Person A had only 105 excess pounds, so she has already lost 60% of her excess weight. She is actually ahead of the game at 6 months out and is on track to lose it ALL.

Person B had 265 excess pounds. At 6 months out she has only lost 36% of her excess weight. At this rate, she will end up retaining 28% of her excess weight, enough to keep her in the obese category.

See what I mean? Don't compare pounds to pounds, that's like apples and oranges.

Percent of excess weight lost: pounds lost divided by total excess pounds
Use a BMI of 25 as a goal weight

On track to lose it all is 25% lost after 2 months, 50% after 6 months, and 80% at one year.

Please note: These are averages. Your mileage may vary.

Looking at your stats:

At three months out, you've lost 31% of your excess weight! How is that an issue? Yes, your biggest drop is the first month, but then again you were eating VERY little, mostly liquids. This is NOT a sprint but a marathon....

I get it. I just need to keep up what I'm doing and allow my body to do its job. That said, through this discussion I realized that I am not getting in enough calories. Although I was eating low carb and high protein my calls were pretty low. I didn't realize this till now because calories were not something I was tracking. I've learned through my discussing it with you all. Thanks for the support and reminder of what is important.

I do NOT track calories. I DO track protein, fats, and carbs and as along as those are in line for where you are in your healing, calories do NOT matter.

Do you try to get in a certain amount of fat?  I think, for me, calories do matter. I was getting in over 100 grams of protein each day but my cals at times were only at around 600 cals-which I didn't realize. I just upd my cals/fat and dropped a pound. My body does not respond well to a low cal diet and it never has.
