Hi..

I am 3 years post op.. I never really liked the protein powders, made me very gassy.  I can tolerate the Atkins Drinks..

My question is, What is your favorite protein powder or ready made liquid drink?

Thanks in advance.

I use Syntrax Nectar exclusively.  They are good quality whey protein isolate and they blend very well. I use the vanilla in my protein coffee, chocolate or strawberry mousse for lunch, and my husband uses cappuccino for his protein coffees. We mix with 1/2 & 1/2 not milk.

I'm not sure what the make up of ready to drinks are but I doubt they are predominately whey protein isolate.

Yup, I love the Syntrax Nectar Lattes. I use cappuccino mixed with lactaid and ho****er for a protein coffee. I also use the Chocolate Truffle mixed the same for hot chocolate.

I use body fortress vanilla cream. I pretty much hate protein shakes but recently started making smoothies out of them every morning and they are pretty tasty. I mix two scoops of protein powder (60g protein) with about 4oz of water in a shaker bottle to mix it well because I hate if it doesn't mix well. Then I pour it into my nutri-bullet with a couple oz of heavy whipping cream and a serving of frozen mixed fruit. It ends up very tasty.

I'm still experimenting. So far I've found blueberries alone don't cover up the protein taste enough so I'll be mixing the rest in with other fruits. The bag of mixed frozen fruit is my best bet.

My favorites include:

NOW Unflavored Whey Protein Isolate

Dymatize Elite 100% Whey Protein in Rich Chocolate and Cafe' Mocha

I also like Premier Protein ready-to-drink chocolate shakes available at Costco and Sams.  They are very handy for grabbing and getting down 30 grams of protein on the go.

Are you lactose intolerant? Does the Premier Protein shakes give you any tummy troubles?

Optimum Nutrition 100 Whey - current favorite is Chocolate Malt. I use the Syntrax Nectar as a change of pace. I currently have Caribbean Cooler. I tried the ready made early on and didn't care for any of them. I do occasional Glucose Control Boost but it just doesn't have as much protein as a single scoop of the others.

Do you think it was the whey or artificial sweeteners that made you gassy? You might look for Jay Robb which I believe is made from eggs and not milk.

Just try a million single servings of different brands and flavors, and find something that doesn't suck.

BTW - don't do this until you are post-op.  What tastes okay today can taste like pure poison on the other side of the table.
