6 months post op today!
Today marks my six month surgiversary. 6 months ago (August 15th) I was still in surgery. It honestly doesn't even feel like six months has passed--it has all been a blur.
As of today I am down 107 pounds (74 since surgery). (I am probably down more, but I gain water weight like crazy around a certain time of the month.) In other words, I've gone from 366 to 259 pounds. I can't even begin to tell you how much this has changed my life. I can walk, run, and do things I haven't been able to do in years. :) I sound like an old lady and I'm only 25 years old, haha.
Size-wise, I've gone from a 30/32-4x/5x to a 22/24-2x (3x in some) in tops--26/28 to a 24 (I could probably go down to a 22 now) in bottoms. I haven't worn these sizes since I was 10-11.
I wish I had some photos to post, but I don't have my camera or smartphone. Maybe I'll have something to post at 9 or 12 months post op. C:
Pre-ops, this surgery is 100% worth it. Don't give up on trying to get the surgery. It can take a while--it was a five-year journey for me. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Thanks for posting this. I'm currently getting my pre-op testing done slowly but surely and it was so nice to read some encouraging words. My family thinks I'm too young (23) to have the DS done, but why would I wait any longer to get healthy and treat my obesity? So I'm staying strong and forging on.
Congrats and I am so happy for you!

It's a great idea to have it done when you're young as long as you have the maturity to understand that it isn't a quick fix. I initially wanted to have WLS around age 20 and I'm glad I didn't because I didn't fully understand the lifestyle change necessary post-op.
So...as long as you have a full understanding of what you're getting into...I say go for it! Best of luck to you!
Congrats. You sound like you've already got a new lease of life.
