NYC doctor follow up care
Good professional follow up care is near impossible to find. They preach out of textbooks and not from real experience. Most find if they follow the DS vets' advice they fair better. Good luck!

DS on Aug 9, 2007 with Dr. Hazem Elariny
Hi,
I'm no where close to a doctor with any DS experience I went with my PCP who is more then happy to take my advise and when she doesnt understand something or is concerned about something with me will contact my surgeons office. I think of her as my PCP in training :) I sure hope she never moves away! I must say we are so lucky for the vets here that stick around its so valuable to have them to answer all our questions and to learn from.

I live in NYC and also visit the same office as you. I agree with MajorMom -- there are good cutters but I haven't found any doctor who is knowledgable about aftercare. My PCP is Dr. Frank Weiser in Manhattan. He listens to me and has sent a long request form for all of my labs (based on Vitalady's list) to Quest Labs for my bloodwork. I actually have been having my tests done every two months until my numbers become stable (almost there!!). If you'd like more info on him, send me a message and I'll provide his contact information. You could also mention my name to his staff and they will set you up with the same request form for your bloodwork with Quest Labs.
I don't have a DS (I'm band to sleeve) but I am in NYC and I really love Dr. Schwack at NYU. He did not do my band and when other surgeons wouldn't even LOOK at me for revision, he took care of me. He told me it wasn't my fault that the band wasn't working, didn't blame me, etc etc and actually took steps to help me revise. I really like the aftercare at NYU and my experience was that he took me in, like I said, after other surgeons didn't want anything to do with me. The downside of the NYU program is that you have to pay a $200 nutritionist fee regardless of whether or not you want to see them. At least that was the deal about two years ago when I first went there. I wish you luck and hope you find someone to help with your aftercare. All the best.
band to sleeve revision and loving life!
You do you, and I'll do me
