When did you hit goal?
Hi Everyone, I'm 14 month post op as of 01/28/2014. I was a revision from RNY to DS
done by Dr. Greenbaum. I currently weigh 170 lbs my starting surgery weight was 286 lbs for a loss of 116 lbs! Which is Super Awesome But I’m not yet at my Surgeon’s goal of 165, nor my own goal of 145 (I have been this weight before as an adult)
My question is when did you get to goal? And how are you maintaining?
My weightless as slowed so much. At 9 months post op I was 186.. that’s only 16 lbs lost in 5 months.. I am fighting so hard.. I want to be further from 200 lbs, so that if I have bounce back its still away from 200. being 170... 20lbs back is 190 too close for comfort for me.
My new goal to help hit my weight goal is I'm in training to run The Philadelphia, Broad Street Run
(10 miles) in May. Hope to run!
Upping your physical activity is a GREAT idea! It took me just under two years to hit my goal of 150lbs (I started at 340lbs). BUT the second year I became INCREDIBLY active and became very aware of food, nutrition and became very intune with what exactly I was putting in my body so that I could help my tool as much as possible. I have never hit a stall or had any re-gain. I am still at 150 but in the last year my bodyfat has gone from 20% to 14.4% and that is due to my diet and tons of physical exercise.
Everyone is different. Make sure YOU are helping your tool as much as possible, be honest with yourself about what you are eating and track EVERYTHING. Training for the run is an awesome idea! Don't be afraid to try a few weights too (muscle weighs more than fat) :)
GOOD LUCK!!
You have a lot of losing time ahead of you. It will come off much slower. And just when you think this is it, you are at the end of your weight loss journey, you will lose a little more! Its not gradual....it comes and goes with what seems to be, a will of its own.
Do not invest in new clothes just yet. And if you do start exercising, remember that the scale may not move as you build muscle, but your body will get smaller. Don't get hung up on numbers.
5 lbs is nothing to worry about for your surgeon's goal. You may be unrealistic with the 145, but it doesn't hurt to try. It does sound like your body is slowing down and finding it's comfort zone, though. It will be harder to get down to your goal and worse yet, stay there.
