"Does the Patient Fail the Procedure or Does the Procedure Fail the Patient"
The 30 Minute Video of Dr Roslin's Presentation
This link leads to the transcript of a presentation given at the 2011 ASMBS Conference in Orlando, "Does the Patient Fail the Procedure or Does the Procedure Fail the Patient" The purpose of the talk was to explain some of the physiology behind bariatric procedures and to explain both weight regain and inadequate weight loss following bariatric surgery, plus - >
Dr Roslin says that because of the problem with the RNY, the gold standard surgeries will become the Sleeve & the D-Switch.
This is because only a further surgery can attempt to correct the RNY's flaw, that the stoma gradually widens to 2.0+cm. That flaw leads to the return of hunger.
(The literature I have found describes a variety of procedures done via tube inserted through the mouth in procedures up to 3 hours in length - and so far an 87% success rate & no long term studies over a patient's lifetime)
Thanks for posting this; lets hope it's true.
