Yes, I have worried about these things also.... I have always been a worrier. I often worry about when I get to be an old lady, and if the person that takes care of me will get how important my drinks and vits are, and be able to handle it..... and of course the worry of the cost of vits and protein powder in thirty years. We could worry together lol. No one person can beat me in this dept...lol I know Im O.C.D. sometimes I can shrug off that "Im going overboard" and sometimes my "over thinking" things makes perfect sense to me......my husband teases me and says Im afraid of my own shadow....lol I just like to be prepared that's all.....

Perhaps you will be able to ditch the CPAP.  No way to tell for sure.

As far as the future goes, what happens will happen.  No point in borrowing trouble.  It's not worth living half a life for the time you have left because you are worried about supplement availability.  Just cope and do the best you can.  Seriously, you can get waxed going out to check the mail.  But we still check the mail every day.  You just take your chances!

Thank you for all your comments. I guess I am just getting nervous as it gets closer. I know that health wise this is the best decision for me and that every choice in life has risks.

I don't know how to say this without sounding morbid, but---just me, but if the world goes to hell so badly that I can't get vitamins and protein, I'm ready to die. Seriously. Just like when some asks "What happens when I get too old to take care of myself? How do I make sure my caregivers will give me my vitamins?" If my mind gets too bad to care for my body, please, LET ME DIE.

I usually have about 6 mos of vitamins on hand.  I believe you could freeze them, too, if you really stocked up, but they have a good shelf life.  For protein storage, I keep protein powders, Spam and potted meat.  It has high sodium, but a fantastic shelf life.  I also found canned beef and pork to add to my stash.  Like you, the US economy is IMO at a point of uncertainty, and I'm not hardcore, but I do have a preppers tendency.  It doesn't hurt anything or anyone, and it does well for my own piece of mind.  For generations, the MOrmons keep a 1 or 2 year food supply as their way of life, so we're not the only ones.
