carbs confused
I'm trying to understand this Here go's
I use Trevia in my coffee and it has 03-04 carbs per teaspoon but no sugar carbs and I use 4 Tea Spoons which =.12-16 carbs.per cup of coffee ( I no it is a lot...please forgive me )
Now....why would I count those carbs in my daily carb figures if they do not spike my sugars ? After all the reason for doing low carb is to not cause a sugar reaction . Right ? So why or maybe not....do we count those carbs or should we not count them ? I don't get it !
I don't count sugar alcohols or fiber towards my daily carb intake. That's left over from my Atkins diet days when you subtract all sugar alcohol grams and fiber grams to figure your net carbs.

You make a comment, "afterall, the reason for doing low carb is to not cause a sugar reaction." DSers do low carb first, to ensure we focus on protein first. Second, because even with malabsorption, we absorb all the calories from carbs. And lastly, too many carbs, especially white flours and simple carbs, can give us terrible gas and/or diarrhea.
truvia isa mix of sugar and another form of sweetener. The FDA states that less than a certain amount of an ingredient counts as 0. I. So the label can state there is zero sugar carbs because that is the law.
However, sugar is sugar and the carbs are carbs and your body is going to recognize it as such and it may certainly will make your insulin level rise to account for. It. Whether you get a blood sugar spike will differ for each of us.
I certainly think you should count those carbs as sugar because your body is definitely going to absorb 100% of the sugar that is in Truvia, because DS ers absorb 100% of carbs.
