Most effective, in my opinion, is Vitalady's plan. You start very slowly after surgery, get up to speed by 3 months post-op, start getting your labs and tweak your vitamins as you get more labs and see if you need more or less.  www.vitalady.com

I'll find the link to the overall plan and post it shortly.

Here is the link to the plan. You won't find a practice that will recommend this except maybe mine if someone's labs are tanking. http://www.gblcreations.com/Resources/Gina/ProgramDRNY_ERNY_ BPDDS3-2010.pdf

I also follow Vitalady plan.... I buy mine at a few places and a few with her... I started slowly over the first few weeks and am now able to take 70% of them at 2.5 months out.... it will take you time to get them in.... My Dr only wanted me on a few vites... I chose to follow the advise of all these Dsers and the vitalady :)

good luck

Vitalady sells vitamins, too.

I also follow Vitalady minus the B complex supplementation. I buy my vites either through her or Vitacost. I have had to switch to all capsules and spent a lot of money on vitamins that ended up bothering me later.

I've not seen anyone go deficient starting on Vitalady's plan.  You may not need as much as she starts you with, but get your labs a couple of times to be sure you're numbers are good and steady before you start to back off.

To give you some background, Vitalady is a ERNY patient that has very similar nutritional needs as a DSer, so she "gets it".  She started first helping her support group with bulk-ordering, which blossomed over time into a business.  Her prices are reasonable and she carries top-notch items, but you may find some things less expensive elsewhere as you learn more about what you need.  The Dry vitamins in mega-doses like A, D, E and K are what I get from her.

One thing I will warn you about is to not fall for the designer bariatric vitamins.  Even their DS worthy vitamins are still insufficient to our needs.
