Need Surgeon in Ohio who takes self-pay

I have a friend who wants to have the BPD/DS and is self-pay.  She is originally from Ohio and wants to have the surgery here.  The office where I had my surgery does not take self-pay.  Can anyone recommend a doctor who:

1. Is good

2. Will not argue with her about which surgery to have

3. Who will take self-pay.

Thanks.

I am six years out and loving my skinny life!

Not Ohio, but Detroit area, Michigan

Dr. Marek Lutrzykowski

Huge proponent of the DS.

I paid $7000 surgeon fee, $12,800 hospital fee. He has worked out a flat rate with Pontiac Doctor's Hospital, something like that. It has changed hands so the name may have changed.

The best list of DS surgeons is at dsfacts. She could call those in locations she likes and see if they have a self-pay plan. Knowing that she may strike out, I would also suggest Dr. Ungson or Dr Aceves in Mexico.

Hi Caro!

Long time, no see.  Dr. Rita is now doing breast cancer surgery, so I don't know if any exist in SW Ohio aside from Drs Teel and Maguire.  I would recommend checking with Dr. Inman next.

And last I heard, Maquire was getting ready to retire.

I'm thinking he may have already in the last 6 mos., and Dr. Teel is pretty bipolar about his feelings about DS.

I just looked up his practice and he is no longer listed...Dr. Teel is lead surgeon there now.

Hi,

You can try Dr. Phillip Schauer - Bariatrics at the Cleveland Clinic. Not on DSFacts but he did mine and I have been pleased.
32k for self pay a year ago so pricey.
I don't think he will argue but it may depend on her interview with him. He doesn't do a lot of DS surgeries but he had no qualms
suggesting the DS in my case. Head of the department. Has a good reputation as a cutter.

I'm not thrilled with the Clinics after care - mostly because it is focused on RnY since they don't see many DS patients. As far as I can
tell Schauer is the only one that does the DS in the department.

The aftercare doesn't surprise me and is very common with the best of surgeons.  That's why we have each other.
