X-Post: Dehisc on the skin reduction

Just got back home from leg skin reduction on December 29th...surgery was on the 27th.

Guess who's got wound dehisc....ME!

Not a joking matter, because I've got a hole in my left inner thigh, and incision on the right thigh is looking angry.

Being treated by a wound specialist.  I was nutritionally sound before surgery, so lack of protein isn't the issue.

Wound specialist is talking about something called Arginade, and I already know about Pro-Stat.

Any other ugly healers here?

That's awful. I hope it gets under control fast. I have diabetic foot ulcers that take a long time to heal. I changed my diet to about 200gms of protein for a while. It was just hard to keep up. The Arginade sounds interesting. I hadn't seen anything in my past wound searches where one  amino acid like that might be extra help.

I've used a lot of collagen dressings on my wounds that are supposed to promote growth. Aquacel, Promogran, Endotrim (I think ) was the latest. It can be a slow process. I hope yours goes quicker.

Good luck - keep us posted

We use Arginade for patients with wounds for added protein to help with healing. It does not taste too bad. lol

Take it easy and concentrate on healing!  Arginade is a good idea!

I had a total dehiscence after my 2nd C-section.  I ended up with a portable wound vac.  Not saying this will happen to you, but if they suggest it, DO IT!  My heal time was cut from 8 weeks (assumed by wound specialist) with packing to completely healed in three weeks.  Good luck.  Happy healing.
