Revision RNY to DS Doctors in NJ/NY
on 1/4/14 8:56 pm
I have already had an appointment with Dr. Greenbaum in southern NJ. He is under my network, but are there any NY bariatric surgeons besides Roslin? Greenbaum has already mentioned to me that he does ERNY and DS. I am only doing the DS surgery. I feel this is the best option for me since I did not lose all my weight from RNY (360 down to 220).
I followed the rules and maintained weight loss for about 5 years. I have gained back 60 pounds. I am waiting to get my op notes from my previous surgery and completing all the surgery requirements.

Greenbaum and Roslin are the best. Stick to your guns and tell the surgeon DS is what you want not ERNY. If he needs to do your surgery open to do that, so be it. Good lucK!

Thanks. I have all most all the prerequisite completed. I just have to finish the pulmonary (sleep study this weekend) and dietary on Monday. I have a follow up with Greenbaum on 2/28 and I want the DS. Open surgery is fine with me. He needs to do what he needs to do. I am turning 48 this month and scars are not going to bother me.
Yep, what GIna said. All the best.

Dr. Greenbaum is doing my DS and it is scheduled for June 30th. Insurance was approved for this surgery.
Hi Historytracker:
I am in New Jersey and have an appointment on April 16th with Dr. Greenbaum about having DS surgery. I had RNY in 2003 and have gained 50 lbs. back. I am getting older and have many health issues which should make me a candidate for the DS surgery.
I wonder if you could tell me about your journey as a candidate by Dr. Greenbaum's standard, how long it took from your first meeting with Dr. Greenbaum to setting the date for your surgery, and your approval from your insurance. This would help me a lot.
Thank you in advance for your help and I wish you GOOD LUCK with your journey.

My appointment was not that long. His office had me wait no longer than 15 minutes and I was in and out in the hour. My insurance is Horizon Blue Cross (teacher - state employee) and they approved me in about 4 weeks.
I would suggest that you see his doctors from that list. It took me a while, but I was able to make the appointment while I was on school day holidays. It was a 2 hour drive for me. The nutritionist are great and I will use them when I follow up.
