Are you newly sleeved or considering, read me!
I am new to this forum, and find it so helpful and the folks here really want to help, so I am very happy to be here. What I have been seeing is a lot of people, some just a few days post op, going off their Doc/NUT plan. I had DS back in 2000, lost about 140 lbs and because I was losing weight immediately, I figured their rules didnt apply to me. Well, here I am 12 years later and I put 100 lbs back on! I had BPD/DS, the surgery that was "almost" impossible to screw up, the most effective weight loss surgery around. It is only effective when you do what the Doc/NUT tells you to do. I am now getting re-sleeve on Jan 16, and you can bet your ass I will follow every rule to the letter. Don't listen to your friends or family that may have or may not have had surgery for advice, if you need advice, call your Doc/NUT or come here. Everyone's body and addictions are different, your spouse's ability to eat a chocolate bar and still lose weight may not ring true for you. Do what is best for "your" body, and for God's sake follow your plan! We did not go thru this just so we could put it back on. This is experience talking, someone that screwed the pooch and wont do it again. Oh, and do your research on foods, tolerances, vitamins, proteins, etc before you get surgery, because I can guarantee you wil have lots of questions post op, and while you're at it, get the BEST Dr you can, not the closest to your house, not the one that likes the same football team as you, do your research, see what patients have to say about Dr's and make an informed decision, it could mean the difference between success and failure. Good luck everyone and happy holidays!
All the best for your re-sleeve.
BTW that was a mighty long paragraph - breaking it into 2 or 3 paragraphs would make it easier on the eyes ;-)

Many capable DS surgeons are not very good DS docs... Few Nuts have been trained for or worked with DS. For some reason, the nutrition info from many offices is the same or warmed over GBS. I plan to eat 90-120g protein and some fats, with little carbs for the first year. Vites from Vitalady and follow her regimen for the first six months, getting labs at 3 and 6 months, adjusting as needed.
