Endometrial Cancer and DS Diet

I was just diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer in October and have begun chemo.  Due to have surgery in the Spring.  I'm overwhelmed with researching the best diet and nutrition for cancer-fighting.  So much of it contradicts the typical DS diet and am curious to know of other DS'ers facing this battle and if/how you adjusted your nutrition and diet to fight the battle.  I appreciate your feedback.

I can't offer any advice but do wish you a successful recovery. I hope your surgeon can give you information on how to deal with this problem.

I, also, cannot offer any advise.  Just want you to know that you will be lifted up in our prayers. Sending healing thoughts, and hugs your way.

So sorry to hear, Diva Jojo.  Our DS forum member, Lisey, had a different type of cancer.  She posted about it here:  http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4485904/Lisey-Update/

Perhaps if you message her, she will offer some insight?

I had endometrial cancer pre D.S., 2010. 4 months later I had the D.S. to quickly lose and insure maintaining a low weight, and keep the pylorus for the ability to eat very nutritious food for health. Upon the request of my MD husband they removed all the female organs possible to avoid future cancer. THABSO- complete hysterectomy. All the close to the area lymph nodes were checked, clear of cancer. I am now in the middle of the 5 yr watch for  new cancer development. I didn't need chemo, which may require different nutrition for you than I have been having. My team of specialists have been taking care of me, searching for the possible spread of cancer.  Every little pain I have  is scanned for cancer. No sign of any yet. I was told by my oncologist to try to maintain a very thin body to help prevent future cancer. I quickly lost 135 lbs in 8 months. Now maintaining since then at 117-120 lbs for 18 months. I have been using protein shakes to insure my protein is over 120g a day, and having meat, nuts, cheese, dairy, yogurt, ice cream, chicken, all in small quantities. I'm always working on hydration, difficult  to get enough in daily. I am rarely hungry  or thirsty because of my prescription meds for other issues, not cancer prevention. I am also hypothyroid,  If you would like, please PM me with any questions. I would like to know what you have found about nutrition for cancer, and  prevention. My diet is not exactly the typical D.S. diet. Vitamins and supplements are very important, which I can P.M you about if you like.
