Has anyone dealt with State Medicaid. .....

I want to have DS surgery. However there's no surgeons that performs it in FL. I've spoken to Humana which is my insurance & because it's Florida Medicaid I have to use a surgeon in Florida. I'm sure there's a loophole through this mess being there's no surgeons here. There are DS surgeons out of state that takes Humana Medicaid (their state) I don't understand why it's not allowed for me to use them. Anyone ever dealt with a similar situation?

I had considered going out of state...but the story was the same for me...Primary insurance (Medicare) acceptable, State insurance not.

It's because each state has its own insurance regulations, therefore state insurance cannot cross borders.

I was a bit puzzled, because my state borders two others  which routinely do many types of surgery for out-of-state patients.

Nevertheless, that's what I was told.  I finally lucked out and found a DS surgeon and Center of Excellence in my own state.
