Monday Surgery - Here I Come!
Deb's husband Steve here. She wanted me to thank you all for your well wishes. She had the DS procedure and had some post-op leakage. It was more sever than initially thought and emergency surgery was required. While recouping from the emergency surgery, she had to be on a ventilator while a suction tube removed the pressure in her stomach.
While in the ICU she was unable to take medication that has no IV equivalent and suffered sever withdrawal from her meds. She spent several days in a feverish state in the ICU.
She is now in a med/serg room and was given a catscan to see if the emergency surgery was successful. The leakage so far has not been contained and the doctors would like to keep her for another week or so, to see if the leak will heal on its own. If not, than additional surgery will be required.
She also wanted me to tell you that her case was an outlier, and her doctor hadn't't seen her particular set of cir****tances before.

Thanks for keeping us posted. Dr Coates is supposed to be very good with years of experience in bariatic surgery, if not the DS specifically. Wishing Deb all the best and quick healing.
