Gluten free?

Hi everyone,

I am almost 2 years post-op and lost a lot of weight (161lbs to be exact - would love to lose another 30lbs but I'm not complaining!)

Like most DSers I can't eat pasta/bread without being really painfully bloated + gas, however my mother told me I should try gluten free pasta to see how it sits, and to my amazement I managed to eat a big bowl of spaghetti without any feeling of bloating or gas which feels AMAZING.

Has anyone else tried this? Or know if this affects weight loss/gain?

Thanks!

I eat the gluten free spaghetti too. It's not low carb so you have to plan for it.

When I get a craving for pasta, gf is always my choice. It doesn't bloat me, but it sure does fill me up fast. I like the corn pasta best.

Like Major Mom said, there are carbs for sure, so I plan my day's eating around it.

I also keep Gluten  Free, I am also Dairy Free and I cannot EXPLAIN the difference it has made to my bloating / gas issues.  It has been so amazing to not be uncomfortable and have that feeling where I'm not sure if I have gas or have to go to the bathroom or what is happening down in the gut because it keeps making so many noises.  It's awesome!

ALSO! Give Shirataki noodles a try!  They are amazing!  They are 11 calories and 3 grams of carbs.  They are great in soups or even a stir fry with tons of protein and veg.

I second the Shirataki noodles. They even have a tofu kind that has protein in it:) Just be sure to drain them very well, rinse under water, and pat very dry. They taste the best this way:)

I am gluten free anyway, so this is good to know!!! I miss pasta, but it swells in my stomach and its waaay too uncomfortable right now. (1 month post op)
