Hair loss starting :(
Hi There,
First off congratulations of successful DS surgery !!! Its work every single hair we will lose.. I am almost 3 years out this Feb and I started losing hair at just about 3 1/2 months also.. Dr's off never told me this would happen. HAHA.. So the hair loss went on for about 4 months, I truly thought I was going to go bald, thank god I had alot of hair to begin with, but, no one could ever tell I lost anything, Amazingly.. No vitamin, shampoo or any other regimen will prevent hair loss, Not even Biotin. It's a process that is going to happen, Infact mine is still groing in. I love my hair now.
Best of luck
Easier said than done, but try not to stress to much about it.

I also started to loss my hair at 3 1/2 months, I'm now 8 months post op . My hair was already really thick to the hair loss isn't noticeable to other people. But i can feel it when i put my hair in pony tails. I stopped losing hair around my 7th month. I read many post as i was losing my hair and learned that everyone is different. Just keep taking the biotin and be gentle with your hair.
Congratulations on your Success!
My hair loss started at 4 months. It went on for about 4 or 5 months, tapering off each month. Freakin scary at first how much was falling out. Then it started growing back at a good clip.
One thing I will share is I posted about this when it was happening to me. And someone posted that taking more than 1800 mg of biotin was a waste, or that I should not be taking more than that amount. I was taking 5K or 10K myself. I thought "the more, the better". So I did cut my biotin back to 1800/2000 mg per day.
To be honest, I keep taking the biotin because I have it. If I had a Do-over, I would not bother with the biotin. It doesn't help keep the hair on your head. This whole process will happen no matter what, and how much you lose is up to your body. Everyone is different. But the biotin did nothing to help me keep my hair, and my hair started growing back in when everyone else's did... whether they were taking biotin or not.
Biotin or not, this will last just a couple of months and YES it grows back. Look up Telogen Effluvium. That is what you are experiencing, and new hairs are pushing out the old right now. Go get a new hair do with some layers to blend in that new growth and avoid the chia pet look.
Anything you ingest, like Biotin, will benefit the new growth, but will not stop the new follicles from emerging.

Yup, happened to me too around 3.5-4 months. It's slowed down a bunch, BUT I also traded my long hair (which was getting progressively stringy as the hair was falling out) for a kicky bob. I am taking biotin as well; not sure if that's helping or not. I also take drugs for my rheumatoid arthritis that affect hair loss, so it's always going to be somewhat of an issue for me. But I was pretty shocked when at 3.5 months after my DS, my hair was coming out in what seemed like clumps! Like I said, the hair loss has slowed down a bunch right now for me, so here's hoping there a regrowth trend in the making.
