How long after your surgery was it ok for you to drive?

I called after a week and was told it was ok, just be careful.  It turned out to be a very bad idea as I was dehydrated and nearly passed out!  Make sure you're ok before you venture out.

I was told two weeks.  Personally, I felt the anesthetic was still clouding my thinking and reaction time for those two weeks, so I would have avoided driving even if I had been "cleared".    Also with an open surgery, I was cautious in moving too quickly.  I may have been OK in quieter areas, but freeways at high speed, or tight parking lots with a lot of back and forth steering would have been difficult for me

I was driving short distances about a week out from open DS.  I was told it was OK as long as I wasn't on narcotics.  I saved my 'good' pills for night time to sleep better.

You can drive as soon as you no longer need pain meds.
