Hello all you former DS'ers!  I'm having surgery in 2 weeks and feeling a bit overwhelmed with reading all the advice, tips, regimens etc.  I will absolutely follow my drs orders no matter what!  Just was curious if u could give me your #1 advice tip to make my post surgery outcome run smoothly, what would it be?  And yes I know everyone is different, so don't give me that.  Curious to what your #1 tip would be based on your experience!  Holla!!!

Forget doctor's orders and follow the advice on here is my number 1 tip. Doc would've had me on 1 multi vit and jacket potatoes and low fat. Atkins and Vitalady are the way to go, so 2 tips for the price of one :-)

Research. Always question your Doctor about post-op care. (not the first 2 months but more about what you do after you heal). A great surgeon doesn't necessarily make for a good post-op Doctor. Ask a lot of questions about post-op lifestyle. If your Doc does more RnY/VSG than the DS ask about the differences between an RnY post op and a DS post op.

OK, following on from what Pete said, you need a vetted DS surgeon.  You can view a list here http://www.dsfacts.com/duodenal-switch-surgeons.html#.UpzHz8 Q5mzM

Sorry, I took it as read that getting a vetted DS surgeon is imperative.

Hi, I'm just jumping in to ask what makes a DS surgeon vetted?

The amount of experience they have of doing successful surgeries.

Lose all you can as fast as you can.  And don't worry about getting too thin.  The loss will stop and bounceback is real.  If you can go 10% or so under where you want to be, great.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am not a " former" DS er ,I still AM a dser and always will be.

The best advice I can give you is get a vetted surgeon and second best piece  is stay away from ALL carb, even the so called good ones. They will stall / stop your loss and give you nasty gas and a belly ache.
