Food Addiction

I have gained 15 pounds from my lowest wt.  I am not heavy but not thin and as a result I lack motivation.  165 64 inches.  I find myself having food addictions or habits and I have had this for years.  For example years ago I consumed large amounts of diet pepsi which I gave up a long time ago.  Currently I am addicted to Sees suckers.  I do not need it and it does not take the place of vit or food I need to eat to remain healthy.  Any suggestion or books I might read to stop / break habits as currently it may be suckers but it could easily be something else next week..................

I believe it is the sugar. Doesn't really matter whether it is in soda or suckers,I believe that is what you are addicted to.

PI am exactly the same. I have to treat sugar just like cocaine,if that is what I was addicted to. 1 bite is too much and 100000000000,00 bites is not enough.

Gl the only advice I. Have is it has to be done cold turkey and it is gonna hurt, not gonna lie to you.

I agree with Hollykim.  I am a sugar junkie and a refined carb junkie.  WLS didn't cure me of my addiction as much as I wanted to believe it would.  It has given me some tools to overcome my addiction but using those tools is all on me.  A hammer doesn't do much good sitting in the tool box.

I have found that starting my day out with no carb foods help curb my carb cravings throughout the day.    Protein shakes do as well.

Thanks............  I do start out with a protein shake and come to think of it I do not start craving sweets and other foods that I do not need until around 11 am................  So this is food for thought.  I am going to try and break the habit cold turkey and supplement the sugar with protein............ your insight support my thoughts.

For me, the more carbs I eat, the more carbs I want to eat.  If I go cold turkey for 2 weeks, I don't crave sugar/carbs any more.

Those 2 weeks are hairy, my fangs pop out and my knuckles drag on the ground when I chase someone... but it has been the only way to cure that issue.
