low carb bread

Hi there!  I know we have to keep as low carb as possible and I was wondering if anyone has tried low carb bread.  I subscribe to a low carb cooking site on Facebook and they have a recipe for paleo bread which has about 5 g of carbs per slice, would that be ok to eat occasionally?  Maybe have a slice with my morning eggs?

That shouldn't be a problem. It's probably loaded with fiber too, that might reduce the 5 carbs even more.

I have tried low carb bread, and taste is an issue for me.  It tasted like cardboard!  It was Udi's that I tried.

I've use one I buy at the big Mega Mart.  It is whole wheat, low carb, low calories bread.  I thought it was Oro but it could be Sara Lee brand.  This bread is so low because it has tons of fiber in it.  I think net carbs was 2 gms per slice.

Bad thing about this bread is it literally lasted in my frig for months and months.  It just never got moldy.  So I wondered how much non-food, additives, chemicals it had in it since it never decayed.  But it tastes good, toasts up great, and makes an awesome sandwich.

I have always kept all kinds of bread in the refrigerator.

It retards spoilage, and bread literally lasts forever in the fridge,  You can also stock up when your favorite bread is on sale (or if it's available at bakery outlets - used to call it "day old bread shop"-   and freeze it.

Stocking up for me is three loaves, max! That will last me about four or five months, no joke!

Mission low carb wraps are good and so is Julian Bread.  But neither one is cheap.  When I have then I keep them in the freezer and take out a slice at a time.  Look up Oopsie Bread too.  Made with cream cheese.  I have even heard of this one being used as a pizza crust.

I was going to say "cloud bread" which is the same as oopsie bread. Cream cheese version is the best. It is really yummy as French toast. I'll make a big batch sometimes and keep it in a ziploc in the fridge. I like it toasted too.

I just bought Sara Lee 45 Calories and Delightful at Walmart today.  I have had it in the past and it is good, anyway I like it.  Total Carbs for 2 slices 17  Dietary Fiber 5g  Sugars 1g  Protein 6g.  So if I figure it correctly for two pieces it is 12 Carbs.  I load it with meat, cheese, eggs, salads, etc.  It gets moldy on me before I can eat a whole loaf in the fridge so i keep it in the freezer and take two slices out before bed and in the morning I am ready to make my lunch for work.  Trying to get down to 30 carbs a day to get rid of weight gain and starving ALL the time unless I feel stuffed.  Got to cut carbs and the holidays are just around the corner.  Yikes....

I don't like low carb bread...

But then again, ONE slice is typically all I eat at any one time and most bread has a serving size of 2 slices.
