8 Years today
It has been 8 years today that I had the BPD/DS surgery and had my gall badder removed. I have lost a total of 133lbs. Over the last year my weight has fluctuated about 10lbs but I am down again. I am pretty happy with that and, overall I can eat anything, but I still continue with protein shakes daily.
I am so amazed at how time has flown by, the only complications I have really had were, right after surgery, with infection and a blood transfusion, and then a year later having a hernia repair done.
My only issue now is low Vit D which I am working on. All my other labs are good.
This is a great surgery that I am very thankful for, it has changed to quality of my life, and I am forever thankful to my family and friends for all the support.

Thanks for this update. I love hearing from those who have had the DS for a while. Congratulations on your 8-year surgiversary!

Hi Sunshine, It is really true that everyone is different, I take vitimins, 4 times a day morn, noon, supper and night. I don't take as many as others and I probably take more then some But what I take works for me and all mine are over the counter, except the vit D which I ordered on Vitalady.
Protein I start my day with a shake and go from there, my goal is 2 a day but I usually don't and my labs are good.
I am kind of a relaxed DS'er, if I was hardcore I might have lost the last few lbs, but I didn't.
My only advice is to really make the first year count because that is your most effective losing period.
Good luck
Susan
