Why are people so against BPD w/o DS?

My doc says he can reconstruct my pouch but it has only increased to 8 oz so i'm not thinking that i will go that route, but does say that BPD is a good way to go for me.  I cant find anything positive about this procedure.  Why does everyone have such negative outlook on the procedure?

You would lose your pyloric valve which would likely result in reactive hypoglycemia and other issues. It was pretty much abandoned in the US due to patients having so many issues and problems.

Is the BPD the same thing as an extended limb procedure. The way he described the procedure is extending the limb were I'd have more malabsorption issues resulting of course a higher need for vitamins & supplements .... This is going to be a revision of my original rny from 2008.

Similar if you're talking about a distal RNY or ERNY. You should still have a 100 cm common channel, or close to it. You'd keep a small pouch.

The BPD is a larger pouch, a horizontal cut across the entire stomach.

Nope, not the same thing. He's describing a distal or extended RNY. You'd still have an RNY, jst with more malabsorption. I suggest you contact Michelle Curran, aka Vitalady. She and her husband are both close to 20 years post-op from distal RNYs. Their vitamin issues with their surgery is what led her to become Vitalady.
