I'll be curious to see responses to this, too since I need some new ideas.

I am about 10 weeks out and I eat mostly the same things every day. I am extremely picky, so when I find something I like, I usually stick with it. Plus, I don't get bored easily with food. I try to eat high protein stuff and try to stay away from carbs as much as possible.

Some things I eat regularly:

* Eggs (either scrambled or hard boiled mixed with full fat mayonnaise)

* Bacon

* Chicken breast that I get at El Pollo Loco (when I cook, mine always come out dry so I just buy them from EPL)

* Ground beef (3 ounce hamburger patties with reduced sugar Heinz ketchup and american cheese)

* Steak-Umm (thin beef steaks like the ones they use for philly cheesesteaks)

* Pumpkin Seeds (I buy them from Eden Foods and get 1-2 pounds at a time. http://www.edenfoods.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=75_98& products_id=413020

* Protein shakes (my favorite at the moment is Strawberry Kiwi from Syntrax Nectar)

* When I crave something sweet, I eat Power Crunch protein bars (peanut butter fudge is my favorite). These are NOT lactose free and they have 10 grams of carbs. So I only eat these a few bites at a time.

I cannot eat a lot at once. When I first started eating soft foods, I could only eat one scrambled egg. Now, I can eat about 2 eggs. Or about 3 ounces of meat. After that, I cannot eat for another 2 hours. And I hardly ever feel hungry. I have to remind myself to eat most of the time.

Yup, high protein, low carb is the ticket. I don't drink coffee or lattes, so I'm not sure. But as long as there isn't real sugar in there, I imagine they're okay. (??)

The first 1-3 weeks were tough. I had no energy. By weeks 5-6, I was feeling better. And by week 8, I felt like my energy is completely back to where it was pre-op. I'm feeling great!! :)

I am intolerant to plain milk.  I do latte's with heavy cream and cappucino's with half&half.

And I don't know much about RNY foods, so I can't really compare the two. But I believe that DSers have to take even more vitamins than RNYers.

What do I eat? Pretty much anything I want. Now, I've always been a pretty dedicated carnivore, pre- and post-op. I eat bacon, sausage, ham, poultry, seafood, well-marbled beef, game meats, cheeses, nuts, eggs, butter, heavy cream---pretty much everything that's high in protein and fat. I also eat a moderate amount of veggies, and some grains. Fruit not so much, mostly because I just don't like much fruit.

How *much* I eat varies from day to day. Some days are tiny-tummy days, other days I can eat the legs off the table. I eat as much as my body tells me it needs. (I've been doing this for nearly ten years, and yes, I had to learn to listen to my body's 'new' signals.)

Vitamins vary greatly from person to person. Vitalady's recommendations are a good place to start, but each of us must get regular bloodwork and tweak our vitamins according to what our individual labs reflect. And no, the post-op vitamins are not the same as for the RNY. Most DSers absorb B12 perfectly well---RNYers rarely ever do. I'm sure there are some things that are the other way around, too.

DSers take more vitamins than RNY folks usually do.

I was out getting my car repaired today and sort of stuck close by where the work was done.  I was hungry and bored...  A bad day for me!  But it does show we can eat just about anything.  On the plus side of things I was on foot all day so I was pretty active.

Breakfast----Coffee

Lunch---2 slices pepperoni pizza.

Snack----small soft ice cream cone

Dinner---chef salad and 2 chocolate chip cookies.  It was take out from a local restaurant so it was big, loaded with meat, cheese, and HB eggs.

After reading this, remember, I am more than 10 years postop.
