I am a little upset, because I have goals and I am still about 50 lbs. away from that goal.  So I hyave made the decision to go back on the presurgery part of the diet and get the weight los jumped started again.  I know with my DS surgery, i should lose weight for 18 months after surgery, but i just want to maximize my weight loss, but not go crazy!  I have a lot of loose skin.  Please my fellw weight loss friends, give me some positive vibes!!!! need some words of encouragement.

Of course  the weight loss has slowed down after a 300 lb loss. If it didn't you would disappear at some point. Don't let this scare you, this is ok.

And I bet some of the 50 lbs you still want to lose is from the excess skin. With such a huge weight loss, I wouldn't be surprised if half the remaining excess "weight" is skin and the subcutaneous fat layer attached to the excess skin, and that when you get that skin removed the weight will disappear with it.

That's wonderful.  300lbs gone.  I bet you feel like a new man.  Don't despair too much about the skin.  It will continue to shrink slowly for quite a while after massive weight loss.

Wow.  What an incredible accomplishment!

I recently lost a few pounds at two years out and commented on the other board.  I don't want to lose anymore.  Many people still lose weight at two years out, it will just be much slower.

As for me, I have to add carbs to slow my weight loss.  If you really want to lose more, get back to the basics.....high protein, low carb.    But mostly, rejoice in your accomplishments.  If you dont lose the whole 50, celebrate your 300 lb loss.  That is truly amazing!

Well I am about four years out and I never really got to my original goal I guess because I was so happy with my results I didn't really care. However I usually bounce around 10lbs or so and most recently I decided I wanted to take off some pounds just for fun and the holidays so I cut out the carbs and this is the 2nd week and I am down 14lbs. So don't believe the DS is for 18 months. I think I lost for about 2 years with no assistance at all but now if I want to lose I just let go of the carbs and sugar and "eureka" the lbs will just fall off. So never give up!!

I wouldn't get hung up on the 18 months. What you have done so far is amazing. I have seen plenty of people that still manage to lose at 2+ years. You can do it - best wishes for you to make your goals.

I'm not sure about going back on the pre op diet. You might try posting some of your regular meals on the bits and vites section and see what people think. With mal absorption you might be getting in too few calories.

Well done!
