Ok, I hope this will be something a little fun.

2 Questions:

1. What should be brought to the hospital when you have your surgery?
2. What was your daily schedule while there?

1) a comfy robe and slippers in case they do not have booties.

2) basically you will not remember much night after surgery.....day 2 they remove the cath....then they do an upper GI like before surgery..... then its water and pain meds....then walking that evening.. day three more walking and peeing and broth and pain meds... then if all is well they take away the pain meds and send you home.,,,with an RX for regular pain meds.

I was good with tylenol by day 3 at home.

Not everyone gets a catheter, I didn't.

1.  I took a robe, slipper-socks (Hello Kitty, the nurse was amused), my phone and my Kindle (plus charger).  I never touched the Kindle because...

2.  If I wasn't walking, which wasn't very much (I finally started going out on my own at the end of the 2nd day), I was sleeping.  The drugs were gooooood.

1) A back scratcher

2) I wasn't there long enough for a daily schedule. They had me up and walking within a couple of hours and on off hours they were taking vitals. I checked out right after a little lunch the day after surgery. Hubby came to visit and I went home with him.

  1. Comfortable clothes to wear when you are ready to change out of the hospital gown. The normal stuff like a tooth brush and some easy to put on comfortable foot wear for when you walk.
  2. The night of my surgery they had me up and walking. Once I showed I was able to get up and around they took out my catheter. The next day I had a GI. I also had to have a pic line put in because my IV blew, the back up IV blew, and they couldn't get another one started. They want you to pass gass, pee, and get in fluids then they will let you go.

Tampons if you are still having periods.  No one told me my period would start after surgery and the pads the hospital gave me were so big, it felt like I had a mattress between my legs.

Did anyone else have this happen?

I started the night before I went in - but I was pretty sore so bending to insert/ remove was a task so I ended up just using pads because I didn't want to mess up my new insides.
