Ok so I always thought our net carbs were .... Total carbs minus the fiber carbs?
However the label on the Atkins protien bars are confusing they say 3 net carbs ... 18 total carbs... 5 fiber .. 1 sugar ... And 11 sugar alchohols....

What is a sugar alchohol and how does it facter in with net and total carbs ... And how do they affect us ds'ers ?

You're supposed to be able to subtract the sugar alcohol grams and fiber grams from the total carb grams to get net carbs. We aren't supposed to be able to process them like a real sugar. Key words, supposed to. Some peoples' insulin still reacts to sugar alcohols. Your mileage may vary.

Gina, and some people can react to the so callers "fiber". Some 'fiber' can be process in the guts by out bacteria and enzymes and turn into 'sugar like' in our system - turning on the insulin..
