Help I'm 10 months out and 106lbs down. And recently I'd have a day here and there where my legs would swell. Thought maybe it was my period, and pms. Or maybe I'm crossing my legs more then nomrmal now that I can. But it keeps happening now this week it's been everyday. I'm so tired and irritable. My calves feel like they wanna burst. Should I call my surgeon or my primary doctor. Is this norrmal?

Your Primary Doctor, if it is something he cannot handle he will write you a referral.

My surgeon told me I'm not getting enough protein if my legs start swelling.

Not enough Protein or Potassium. If happened to me, as well.

Yes, me too. I can instantly tell when I am running short on protein because my legs swell.

Thanks everyone,! ur all awesome. I noticed once I googled it with duodenal switch that's what my search results started having in common. I am upping my Protein, and not eating stuff that isn't protein packed for the next couple of weeks. I think it started when I started running all last week... I was getting in minimum but with running I'm burning right through it. And this past week since I hurt my chin I was feeling down and ate more crappy food then good food for me.

Thanks for the great info.  I've never heard of this before.  Other than being tired and irritable, I didn't think there were any physical signs to low protein.

Yes, good thread - I had no idea either.  Thank you.

This still happens to me sometimes too!!  Up the fluids!  keep drinking lots and lots of water... water belly is SO uncomfortable but in the morning, it will make ALL the difference.  Also be mindful of salt intake (deli meats / cheeses have WAY more than I ever thought)

I hope this helps!!!  GOOD LUCK!
