Hi guys,

Just wondering from those further out.... the doc gave me a 2 month Rx for lansopazole... for acid refulx. If i do not take it OMG ...it really hurts...when I take it i am fine though.

Just wondering...is this a longtime rx i will have to be on or does the acidity resolve it self further out from post op?

If you have not done so already give the surgeon's office a call.    Good luck and keep us posted!

Dr. Roslin has prescribed Nexium for me, which seems to be working.  I'm six months out, and I do notice a difference if I forget to take my Nexium.  I imagine it will be a long term solution for me.

I am Dr. Roslin too :) ....mine is probably a generic form of nexium.

I've been taking Nexium every day since about a month after surgery. Tried a couple other meds but this is the only one that worked for me. I'll be 3 yrs out in December

I had GERD prior to my DS...and the surgeon told me it would not cure it, and might possibly get worse.

It did, and I'm on 40 mg omeprazole daily  for life.  I don't mind at all.  It's totally worth not having 230 extra pounds to haul around.

There are trade-offs for everything in life.  This is the best trade-off I've ever had!

thanks for sharing. I wouldn't mind taking the med forever if I have to....but i wasn't aware this was a maintence drug needed... as i did not have any issues prior to surgery.

I had horrid reflux pre-op, and my DS cured it. Maybe yours will resolve when you finish healing.
