VitaLady vs. other sources
The NUTs, I have found, simply plug in conventional information for bariatric patients, and most are not specifically trained in the needs of highly malabsorptive individuals, as DSer's are.
They often give RNY advice to DSer's and don't take the time to learn and understand the differences in how each surgery works, from a physiological standpoint.
In terms of any medical care, DS or not, pateints always do better to be informed about their individual conditions, and govern themselves accordingly.
To be honest with you, I don't see a ton of DS patients around me. There are a ton of RNY and Lap band people, but the DS seems to be relatively scarce. Heck, I can't find a PCP who has heard of it!
So I don't expect a NUT to be familiar with it unless they have personally reach out and ask for into to learn about it. The DS surgery just isn't main stream yet.
