Struggling with the worst smelling gas and bowels in the world!
Congratulations on your accomplishment of getting off drugs.
As to the food issues, I think you have already identified both the problem and the solution. I'm esp concerned, though, about your low protein intake. Yes, carbs will lead to weight gain, but other than that they won't ruin your health. Protein malnutrition WILL destroy your health, and it's a lot easier to prevent it than it is to fix it.
Get your protein levels checked if you haven't already. Do whatever you have to do to increase your protein intake to preserve your nutritional health. You'll feel better, too! And of course decrease the carbs, but increasing protein is far more important, and something you can do even before you get the carb cravings under control.

Right. Basic rules for DSers: high protein, low carbs/sugar. We learn that in DS kindergarten. :)

It sounds like you are working on your drug addiction, which is a great first step. But, being a DSer means you need to take extra steps to take care of your body.
Like everyone has said, the gas and bad smell is coming from the carbs and sugar. It may be really hard to stop eating carbs and sugar cold turkey, but how about starting by increasing your protein? For us DSer's, protein is vital. You are probably malnourished and starting to put protein back into your body may help you feel better. Just a suggestion, but focus on one thing at a time, starting with protein. Hopefully, you will begin to crave healthier foods once you start.
Are you taking vitamins? It sounds so much like you need to start doing good things for your body! Adding protein and vitamins are important first steps.
The only way I can keep the carbs down is to eat protein and fats constantly. At first you will crave the carbs, but if you keep stuffing yourself with proteins and fats, the carb crave will subside. Trying to just quit carbs won't work; you have to eat and eat, just change what you eat to lots of fats and proteins.
This is the deal you made with the DS; you break the deal, you suffer the consequence.

It's your eating habits I hate to say. I struggle all day long with it as well. I have gotten in the habit of popping crap in my mouth all day long and as a result I am having the same issues. It's awful.
I am not a drug addict but I am definately a food addict! Just because I was able to lose the weight thanks to the DS doesn't mean my addiction is resolved. It sounds like you have had partial addiction transfer. I know former drug addicts really crave sugar and chocolate in particular, so it will be that much harder for you. I have started going to OA (Overeaters Anonymous) and I do find it somewhat helpful.
We all have different issues but the underlying addiction is the same. There are some former addicts there so that might be helpful to you.
Good luck!
Yes...you are gonna get some helpful and some critical feedback on your post but you are dealing with your drug issues and now are facing and dealing with your eating issues...great job! You see the problem and are just looking for ideas, suggestions and basically support from others who may have or are in the same boat so kudos for that as well. You already named the culprits...just try to steer clear of them. Do not buy any of the stuff where it can be on hand. If it is not in my house I already know I am too busy (and lazy) to run out and get it so I have no other choices but those that I bought like fruits, veggies, cheese, and yogurt are my go to's now. Apples seem to be my current addiction to replace sugars. Yep...I still have food addictions, just trying to make them better ones as well. Keep your head up and focus on each day and make it one step closer to the goal.
